Our board certified music therapist will complete an initial assessment. This will include assessing physical and cognitive strengths, music preferences and responses, as well as obtaining a brief medical and psycho social history that will help guide and determine agreed upon goals.
-
A frequency will be recommended and agreed upon based on goals and client/family preference. It is recommended no less than weekly in order to obtain progress toward goals. Session length may vary based on client response and need, but expected to be one hour.
-
Your music therapist will help determine the best plan of care that includes recommended frequency and goals. Based on the plan of care your music therapist will develop interventions and materials to use during the sessions.
-
What happens during each visit is determined by the goals created in the plan of care. This may include singing, movement with music, music and meditation, song writing, improvisation and instrument play.
